About David Anthony and David Anthony Caching

Here’s a quick rundown of my experience so you can see the different things I bring to the table as a Voice and Acting Coach. I started in Children’s Theatre in Middle School. Then attended the Orange County School of the Arts for instrumental music piano. While in high school I trained and performed with The Young Americans. I then went to Chapman University for Choral Conducting, Music Education and Composition. During that time I wrote my first musical: An adaptation of Peter Pan with lyricists Jim Blaylock and Tim Powers.

WarmUps

We do not waste time on warmups and scales. It’s not that aren’t important. Vocal health is everything! But you can do that on your own before you get to your lesson.

This show spawned my love of writing musical theatre! I then spent several years performing in piano bars and teaching voice. Then I began teaching for the Orange County School of the arts. I had a diverse set of classes, music directed shows, performing ensembles and wrote tons of arrangements. This sparked my love of arts education. I went on to teach at The Young Americans College of the Arts and Saddleback College as adjunct faculty as well as San Clemente High School and various other performing schools such as McCoy Rigby, NoSquare Theatre, Musical Theatre University, and various other arts programs in Orange County. After years in education, I had the privilege of being the Executive Director of Arts and Teachers for a chain of arts high schools. Encore Education Corporation tasked me to run multiple performing arts high schools which included hiring and training all arts teachers on multiple campuses, developing all curriculum, overseeing all live performances, integrating our schools into the community, serving as the liaison and support system for academic teachers and most of all, opening a new campus in downtown Riverside from scratch. Building a new performing arts school from scratch is my favorite achievement in arts education!

Previously David was the executive Director of Arts and Teachers for Encore Education Corporation. A chain of charter arts high schools where he was responsible for hiring and training all arts teachers in all disciplines. He was also in charge of curriculum development, school wide assessment and leveling as well as overseeing all live performances on multiple campuses.

Prior to that David taught at The Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) and The Young Americans College of the Arts.

David is still on Faculty at Saddleback College where he Directed Shrek and Music directed Assassins. He is the co-creator of The New Works Project that creates staged readings of new musicals with Tony nominated broadway star Jonelle Allen.

David has had the pleasure of playing in Piano Bars all over Southern California for 20 years. Billy Joel, Elton John to Musical Theatre to pop, R&B, Country and more. David can be seen Sundays in Long Beach at the Executive Suites piano bar and other special events and fundraisers.

In the summer of 2018 David played the role of Mike in Happy 50ish. This two man musical comedy about male menopause played at the Studio theatre for 8 shows a week for 5 weeks in the Studio theater in Lady Lake Florida.

As a pianist, David has been fortunate to play many concerts, recitals and benefits for people like Lindsay Mendez (Dogfight, Godspell, Wicked), Krysta Rodriguez (Addams Family, Smash, First Date, Spring Awakening, In The Heights) Matthew Morrison (Glee, Hairspray, Finding Neverland, Light In The Piazza)

More coming soon.

David has written vocal and instrumental charts for many different types of ensembles and all genres of music. Most frequently, David is a choral arranger specializing in contemporary A Cappella charts. His choral portfolio website can be found at http://ChoirCharts.com/

David’s favorite artist activity outside of writing musical theatre is TEACHING PRIVATE VOICE! With over 22 years of coaching, David is your fastest approach to achieving your vocal dreams!

David knew how to prioritize the most important vocal adjustment to unlock parts of my voice I didn’t know I had! Thanks to David I feel that a career in the performing arts isn’t a dream, but a possible future for me.

Braxton McGrathCalifornia State University at Fullerton

David has given me the confidence to walk into a room and know I am going to nail any audition because of his training. He has taught me to allow myself to be vulnerable and know that I am always enough. Without David Anthony I would not be the confident performer I am today.
